If you frequent the beauty influencer world, chances are you’ve heard of tubing mascaras. If you’re new to beauty gurus, let us be the first to inform you of the must-have mascara for summer beauty looks. The latest to join viral makeup trends, tubing mascaras feature a unique formula that not only gives a false lash look without the work, but is designed to be removed easily and stand the test of heat and humidity. This makes them a great addition to your cosmetics bag for glowing, summer beauty looks.

What Are Tubing Mascaras?

Tubing mascaras are unique due to the ingredients used in their formulas. While regular mascaras use a mix of oils, dyes and waxes as ingredients, tubing mascaras utilize polymer-based ingredients that wrap individual lashes in a tube-like manner. This polymer-based formula allows mascara to create the illusion of longer and thicker lashes without wax, dyes or oils. Because of this, tubing formulas are easily washed away and can help in reducing the need to pull or overwork sensitive skin surrounding the eyes and eyelids in order to remove makeup.

Why Are Tubing Mascaras Good For Summer?

Tubing mascaras have emerged as a popular choice for summer makeup due to their unique formula. Of course, finding a mascara that checks all the boxes and is easy to remove is a hit product in and of itself. However, when it comes to summer-proof beauty, tubing mascaras are a great choice due to their long-lasting ability to stay all day without running or smudging from seasonal factors like heat and humidity. Because the lashes are wrapped in a polymer base, instead of traditional formula ingredients like oil and dyes, they are less likely to cause running or smear with all-day wear. Additionally, this is a key improvement for those with sensitive eyes or contacts who experience irritation due to makeup running.

How To Apply Tubing Mascaras

Because of the major formula differences between tubing and traditional mascaras, the application process differs as well. Normally, traditional mascara is best applied at the root of eyelashes and worked upwards in a wiggle motion to coat each lash. Tubing mascaras on the other hand require a backwards application of this method. Starting at the eyelashes’ tips, build up your first coat without touching the base of the lash line.

After a first coat to the tips is applied, you can now begin to work the formula from the bottom up in a similar traditional mascara style. You’ll notice that less product is needed to achieve desired results with tubing mascara — just make sure the tips are evenly coated before starting the upward application from the baseline.
