I’m not afraid to admit that when I saw the Everywhere Belt Bag by Lululemon, my initial reaction was, “A fanny pack, really?” But I’m happy to report my first reaction couldn’t be farther from the truth. While the coveted Lululemon belt bag technically is a fanny pack, this is not your mother’s fanny pack. In fact, the belt bag’s popularity could argue that what started as a fanny pack design has now grown into a bag category of its own, and that it's here to stay for well past this summer. The Lululemon Belt Bag is one of the latest designs to join the Lululemon accessory line. Dubbed the Everywhere Belt Bag, you can truly take this lightweight and compact bag anywhere you go. The design is simple yet executed extraordinary well, allowing you to almost forget you’re wearing the bag until you have to conveniently reach for one of its pockets. A key feature of the bag’s design is its strategically placed pockets and their size. Upon first glance, you wouldn’t expect much to fit in the compact bag, yet it’s spacious enough to hold an iPhone, wallet, keys, sunglasses and even more. As an owner of three belt bags, I can personally attest that the bag neatly fits all of my essentials (including lipstick and touch-up powder) without becoming bulky or annoying to wear. The front of the bag is a sleek design and features no logos besides a delicate Lululemon emblem, but the back side features a pocket perfect for a phone or wallet that you want to keep (literally) close to your chest and at the ready. The interior of the bag features more mesh pockets so you can stay organized.

As is the case with any non-essential, the question of whether or not the purchase was worth it is up to the consumer. That being said, I’m 100% on team Belt Bag and have no plans of looking back anytime soon (as I type this, I received a tracking notification for a new color…). If you don’t want to take my word for it, consider the 628+ 4.2-star reviews on the Lululemon website all sharing praises of the bag. For under $40, the durable water-repellant bag is one that you can tote with you all summer, from grabbing drinks with friends at the patio bar to going hands-free at concerts, and of course any and all outdoor adventures you can think of. Word to the wise: if you do have your eye on a specific color, act fast because this bag is known to sell out quickly, and restock on select colors is not guaranteed.

Speaking for Lululemon pricing, the belt bag costing $38 is a steal. That being said, the design is quite simple and easy to replicate. While I personally opt for the real thing due to quality of fabric, space and overall feel (it’s truly so lightweight) there are several belt bag alternatives that can get the job done.
